The SPAN-ET is a research-tested “tool used by school stakeholders to assess school resources and readiness to improve nutrition and physical activity environments, suggest appropriate improvement strategies, and score impacts resulting from environmentally based treatments” (National SNAP-Ed Toolkit). SPAN-ET is used in:
- Elementary schools including primary (K-2) and intermediate (3-5th) schools
- K-8 schools if the grade levels share facilities for meals, recess, and physical activity
- High schools using the adapted High School SPAN-ET Tool
For background and additional information about the SPAN-ET, please visit the OSU Extension SPAN-ET page.
Training Requirements
- All SPAN-ET auditors must attend a SPAN-ET training prior to implementation.
